The original conservatory had a Glass roof which is used as a children’s nursery.
It was unsuitable for the summer/winter in particular, as the conservatory is on the south side of the property.
The new solid tiled roof will provide the energy efficiency for all seasons.
No more cold
No more magnification of the sun, No more glare.
No more rain noise.
You could say a perfect nursery to provide comfortable room for the children.
The Installation was a total re build roof, we constructed a subframe out of timber to take the new roof, we had to increase the roof pitch to 14 degrees. The tiles need to be at a minimum pitch of 14 degrees to ensure water cannot get under the tiles in bad weather. As you can see the tiled roof looks great externally and internally we put 70mm Insulation between the joists, plasterboard which was then skimmed, to finish the roof and to create plenty of light we installed 20 spotlights into the ceiling. You may think thats a lot of light but it is a very large extension.
This Solid Tiled Roof has a U-Value of 0.15 and is 14 times more energy efficient than the original poly roof.
Their are 3 completely different ways to change your conservatory roof to a solid roof.

In this building project we used Option 1, Build around the existing roof to achieve a solid tiled roof.
